David R. Brooks is Chairman and CEO of McKinney-based Independent Bank Group, which currently operates 20 Independent Bank locations spanning across north and central Texas.  He has been active in community banking since the early 1980s and is a former board member of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas.
 
 
Brooks has a long history of community and civic involvement, and he is passionate about education.  He served five years as President of the Board of Trustees at McKinney Independent School District and three years on both the McKinney Economic Development Corporation Board and the McKinney Chamber of Commerce Board.  Brooks is the current Chairman of the Board at Noel-Levitz, Inc., a large national higher education company, and he served as the Chief Financial Officer at Baylor University from 2000-2004.  
 
 
Brooks is a former Rotary Club President and former board member of the United Way of Collin County. In addition, he has assumed several leadership roles in the local communities and churches where his family has resided, including the founding of Crosspoint Church in McKinney.  
 
 
Brooks holds Bachelors (1980) and Masters (1981) degrees in business from Baylor.  He is married to Carolyn and they have two sons, Ryan and Reece.  His hobbies include marathon running, mountain climbing, skiing and other outdoor activities.
